Janet Bohm, prima balalaika, is President of the Washington Balalaika Society. A retired teacher, she has had a life-long love of Russian music. She purchased her first balalaika in Leningrad and treasured it for over 20 years before finding a teacher at the WBS when she joined the Society in the early 1990s. Since 2001 she has studied with Andrei Saveliev, the foremost balalaika soloist in the United States, who is the balalaika soloist of the WBS Orchestra. She also sings in the Reston Chorale and works with students in the People to People Student Ambassador Program.
